Great Lakes State

Just returned from a trip to Old Mission Peninsula in Northwest Michigan which shares a latitudinal parallel with some great wine-growing regions in France. Just as noteworthy, the area we visited is the cherry capital of the U.S. So, we tried a lot of wine, ate a lot of cherries, and even had some cherry wine. Old Mission Peninsula splits the Grand Traverse Bay into two parts. We enjoyed canoeing on placid waters, taking long walks, big sky views and moderate Summer weather. Please avoid the Michigan posts if you have any aversion to the colors blue or green.

Afterward, we drove South through Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, then into Alabama to spend an evening with family. Good stuff.
